Brookings
is the largest and most southerly of the Siskiyou Coast cities.
Located along the coast just north of the California border, Brookings
provides access to the Chetco and Winchuck Rivers, the Kalmiopsis
Wilderness Area, and Oregon's most scenic coastline. Because of
its unusually mild climate, Brookings is often referred to as "The
Banana belt of Oregon". Temperatures often reach 70F even in the
winter months and whilst the rest of the coast is experiencing much
cooler temperatures. Flowers bloom all year round in this climate;
in fact about 90% of the country's Easter lilies are grown locally.
A beautiful area of the coast, Brookings-Harbor has become home
to many retirees and is one of the fastest-growing real estate markets
on the coast.
Commercial
flower growing is one of the area industries and you can see fields
abloom in color in spring and summer. There are also many shops,
restaurants and a performing arts center where plays by the local
theatre group are performed.

Salmon
Run is a golf retreat unlike any in the Pacific
Northwest. You cross a glistening stream more
than a dozen times. Pause for a moment and observe
an ancient ritual where spawning salmon return
